Proper packing protects your coins from physical damage and keeps the package from looking interesting to anyone who shouldn’t be interested.
Protect Each Coin From Movement and Contact
Movement is what damages coins in transit. Coins that slide, rattle, or rub against each other can pick up scratches and contact marks that reduce their value, so nothing should be able to shift.
Keep coins in their current holders, whether that’s flips, tubes, slabs, or album pages, and never clean them or remove them from graded holders.
In many cases, however the collection was originally stored (in tubes, folders, or wrapped in the original packaging) is already a fine way to ship it, as long as everything is secure and padded.
A layer of bubble wrap or packing paper around each group of coins protects both the coins and the holders.
Box It Securely
For most collections, everything fits in a single box. For larger collections, it may take two or more, in which case we’ll give you specific instructions for what goes in each box.
Reinforce all corners and seams with tape so the box won’t come open in transit. Fill every empty pocket of space so nothing shifts when the package is gently shaken.
Keep the Outside Plain and Discreet
Don’t advertise what’s inside the package. Avoid writing “coins,” “gold,” “silver,” “valuables,” or anything similar on the outside. A box labeled with its contents invites unwanted attention.
Use a plain, unmarked box. Because the shipment is covered by our private Lloyd’s of London policy rather than a declared-value carrier service, there’s no need to declare a dollar amount on the package to be protected.
If a carrier asks you to declare the contents, “personal effects” or “personal items” is accurate and keeps the package low profile.

Whichever carrier you use, signature confirmation is a condition of our insurance coverage. It means the package can’t be left unattended. It has to be handed to a person and signed for, which closes the most common gap that leads to lost or stolen shipments.
Photograph and Confirm Your Shipment
Before you drop off your package, take a photo of the shipping label so the address and tracking number are clearly visible, and email it to info@coinfully.com the same day you ship.
